If you have ever been to the Oregon Coast, you know one thing: it is cold and windy. Our beaches are not your typical beaches you see in movies or on TV. It is usually cold, windy, and the water is always freezing, even in the summer. However, weather aside, there is something truly magical about the scenic views you can find while traveling down Highway 101. The rugged rocks, dramatic cliff sides, rolling sand dunes, and even the moody gloom in the clouds come together to create a breathtaking coastal landscape.

As you can probably imagine, photographing a wedding on the Oregon Coast always delivers unforgettable scenery and once in a lifetime views. So when I arrived at this wedding location in Coos Bay and the weather was less than stellar, I was genuinely excited. Because the only thing better than the Oregon Coast is the Oregon Coast just before a storm rolls in. The skies grow darker, the ocean more powerful, and the entire coastline feels cinematic and alive.
The umbrella I brought did not stand a chance. The strong coastal wind quickly turned it inside out. The couple arrived completely soaked from the rain, with hair whipping every which way as soon as they stepped out of the car. And yet, it was absolutely perfect. This is the kind of raw, romantic, and wildly beautiful energy that makes coastal weddings so unforgettable.
So let these photos tell you one thing. If you plan your wedding day on the Oregon Coast and are met with weather you thought you did not want, trust that it may be exactly what you needed. A rainy, windy wedding day with the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop creates the most incredible, cinematic, fantasy like wedding photos. The kind of images that feel timeless, emotional, and effortlessly romantic.
